The Holland and Knight Rememberance Project is an annual writing contest for high school students, which supports Holocaust education. The project, sponsored by the Holland & Knight Charitable Foundations, Inc., serves as a living memorial to the millions of innocent victims of the Holocaust. It is dedicated to the memory of the six millions Jews who were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators as a central act of state during World War II and to the memory of an additional five million persons who perished as a result of Nazi persecution, including Roma and Sinti, Poles, Slavs, Soviet prisoners of war, political and religios dissidents, homosexuals, and the mentally and physically disabled.

Holland & Knight recognizes the moral imperative of teaching young people about this watershed event in history and the central importance of passing on to future generations a profound understanding of the consequences of the Holocaust and a sense of their responsibility to the human community. Teachers and high school students are thus invited to incorporate the writing contest into their study of the Holocaust and use it as a means for students to personally research and react to the message of the Holocaust.

This annual contest encourages high school students to write a research paper focusing on a specific theme concerning the Holocaust. The Project was initiated in 1995 to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camps in Eastern Europe at the end of World War II. Holland & Knight's commitment to Holocaust education and literacy continued as the Project chose to remember those who dared to speak out during the Holocaust, the lives and legacies of the children who lived and died during the dark years of the Holocaust, the progression of prejudice in Europe during the Holocaust and the Mosaic of victims.
